Dropped off for an ordinary treatment, this cat's owners never came back to get her, even insulting the cat when called; thankfully, the shelter knew she deserved better and found an ameowzing home for her instead

They dropped their cat off at the vet's for a flea treatment, then never came back for it. By choice. 

As someone who has been in a position before where I had to drop my cat off for treatment and leave, I can say this: it was a terrible experience. I was young, I had just adopted my kitten, it was her turn to get spayed, but there was no place to do it in the city, and I didn't have a car back then. So I had to leave her. At the vet's. For the entire day. And I was losing my mind. All I wanted was to go back there and get her back. The fact that she wasn't in front of my eyes and within earshot for this treatment had me paranoid. Getting her back was so relieving. Getting a car changed things, and I never had to do that to her again, but I know what it's like. And I know, according to the vets, that she was just as stressed as I was. Never could I imagine taking my cat to the vet and abandoning her there. Couldn't imagine leaving her anywhere, obviously, but especially in that stressful environment.

Unfortunately, as told on r/CatDistributionSystem, that's exactly what happened to Cecilia. Except it was somehow even worse than that. Not only did this cat's owners abandon her at the vet's, they also had the audacity to get mad and insult their cat when they were called and confronted about not coming to get her. The workers at the vet's didn't try too hard to change their minds after that, deservedly so. Instead, they called someone who they knew loved cats and would love her, and that person immediately knew that she was going to come home with them.

    I was the first customer they contacted to ask if I wanted her. The answer is obviously yes and now we have 3 cats! The old owners never gave her any vaccinations and she's not spayed, but we're getting those issues fixed this weekend.

    She demands all of your attention and will dig your hands out from under blankets to get it; and she has the cutest way to sit, with her tail around her front paws like in picture one, she does it every time she sits like that.

    We don't know what happened to her before, but we'll be here for all of her after. I'm glad at least they chose to leave her in a place where people cared about her versus leaving her to wander alone

  • That's one way of looking at it. They should have just told them though, instead of abandoning her and then acting like they are completely in the right when confronted.

    PinkSilkLaces OP I did too! The nurse that was taking care of her was the one who called them and she told me what they said. I was livid! She might be a menace when she gets let into the larger house after we get her and the boys used to each other but still! This is a little baby!

  • Cats are supposed to be menaces! Chaos and shenanigans are part of who they are! It's how we know that they are happy and healthy. It's never a reason to give them up.

And honestly the way she flops her head down on my shoulder when we're cuddling in bed should be illegal smh. But in all seriousness, she's so sweet. What they said about her was false accusations and even if they are true, she didn't do it
